Details of the Yakut shaman costume, which is presented in Chapter 8. Jochelson (1926, 169) explains that the two iron rings on the back of a Yukaghir shaman costume represent the shamanistic sun and moon. The disk’s central hole could be the opening through which the shaman descends to the lower world.
