Cradle, Mongolia
A Daghur cradle with full equipment of swaddling clothes and many extraordinary accessories. The cradle is made of light varnished wood and consists of a bottom with c. 6 cm high sides, and a head, inclined slightly backward. The ends are rounded and have thick leather straps looped through a hole at each end so the cradle can hang inside the ger. Along the sides another three leather straps are looped through and can be tied up with a shoelace, thus keeping the baby in place. The bottom of the head is covered with a piece of heavy oilcloth.
