Silk drapery from mongolian ger
Silk drapery for hanging in the north side of the interior of the ger. The drapery is composed of two individual parts, one hung above the other, behind which bedclothes were normally stored. The bottom drapery is itself composed of two identical rectangular pieces of silk with woven patterns, lined on the three sides with a narrow border of black satin. Inside the latter is a broader band of white silk embroidered with butterflies; and inside this again a silk ribbon woven with gold thread. At the top the two parts are stitched to a band of blue cotton to which – on each side – two cotton ribbons are fastened. Sewn to the front top of each side of the drapery are two ribbons of raw silk. It is lined with blue cotton.
