Formally dressed monk, 1939
This formally dressed monk visited the expedition’s base camp at Chagan Khure during the winter months of early 1939. His deel is of heavy material and lined at the hoof-like cuffs with sheep skin. Over it he wears a sleeveless silk waistcoat and a furlined hat. Foto: Kaare Grønbech, 1939.
